Meditation for Beginners (free)
lead by Jennifer Franklin
There are so many reasons people seek out meditation classes: to reduce anxiety, improve health and wellness, find emotional balance, manage work stress, and cope with life’s changes — just to name a few.
The research has shown time and time again that meditation can indeed improve our quality of life. Insight meditation is a kind of mental cultivation or mind training through which your mind becomes more calm so that better self-understanding can arise. You become more aware of yourself, of others, of your environment and ultimately of true reality itself. Meditation for beginners is designed for people who have little or no experience meditating, though some experienced practitioners may join to refresh their practice. You do not need to be calm or have any particular belief system to benefit from this class!
Each weekly class includes guided meditation using practice techniques from Insight meditation. There is also a discussion on a topic relevant to the skills needed for a beneficial meditation practice. The goal is to help you to tease out the practical details needed to integrate meditation practice into a busy daily life in the modern world. Classes are designed to be helpful and understandable to first-time visitors as well as regular attendees

7:00- 8:00 PM
Children ages 6-11 (first through 5th grade students) will meet as a group and through the use of art, movement, and drama we will talk about anxiety and stress in a relaxing environment. I will guide the children in exploring and identifying feelings and stressors. We will discuss a myriad of coping skills and brain storm what others we might be able to use. We will also address unhealthy coping skills and how that effects us differently. Tiffany will accept BCBS, Allegiance, and Medicaid or $20/class. Unfortunately, I will not be able to accept children with extreme behavioral problems due to this being a group class. Email Tiffany at [email protected] before registering to pre-screen for the group. Group limited to 10!
